West Passage was founded in 2013 by John Walsh. Prior to West Passage, John worked with the Roseview Group, a boutique institutional real estate investment and advisory company in Boston, where he was engaged on a broad range of principal side and lender advisory assignments. John’s career began at ING Clarion in New York, acquiring institutional properties on behalf of fund investors. He was then hired by NY Credit Advisors, a start-up commercial real estate lending fund, where he originated a variety of loan types and analyzed and managed various syndicated loan participations. While pursuing graduate degrees, John also worked with Gilbane Development and Paradigm Properties.
John graduated from Princeton University with a degree in U.S. History. He holds two graduate degrees from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, an M.S. in Finance and an M.B.A.
John was active with MetroLacrosse in Boston and sits on the Advisory Board for Harlem Lacrosse New York. He is also on the Board of Directors of the New Canaan Lacrosse Association and serves as Treasurer. John played on two national championship lacrosse teams at Princeton University, and enjoys coaching youth lacrosse.
John grew up in Rhode Island and continues to spend significant time there with family each year along the West Passage side of Narragansett Bay. He is currently Vice President of the Board of Governors at the Plum Beach Club in Saunderstown, RI, which sits in a historic neighborhood that has been enjoyed by four generations of his family.
